Time for T is a poignant and compelling coming-of-age story told by Thomas Dawson in his adulthood.
Thomas reflects back on the turbulent childhood he and his sister, Allie, endured with an abusive father and an alcoholic mother. As their father heartlessly excuses himself from the picture and their mother passes away, these young children are rescued by their selfless grandmother. Theresa Reynolds, fondly known as ‘T’, makes a commitment to raise her grandchildren and thereby holds her own wants and needs in abeyance.
When T brings a special man, Don, into her life, Thomas kicks like a steer, going to extreme lengths to prohibit Don from entering their family circle. With stamina and perseverance, T rears her grandchildren while enduring Thomas’ behavioral problems, Allie’s emotional issues and Don’s debilitating illness.
As the children approach their college years and with Don’s illness now behind them, T’s life begins to settle down a bit. However, even as an adult, Thomas has continual issues regarding Don. His adamant ways lead to a full-blown family quarrel and T proceeds to bring her famous beef stew to Thomas as a peace offering, which he declines due to his selfish pride. On the route home, T is injured in an automobile accident. It is there and then that Thomas comes face to face with what has held his heart in chains over the years. As he battles this demon, he comes full circle and views Don in an entirely different light.
After decades of toil and dedication, it is finally Time for T.
